If you’re reading this, welcome to the forum!
Since Quilt was made public, the idea of creating and maintaining a forum has been on everyone’s mind — we believe it’s a much better way to have long-form discussions than Discord, and it makes information far easier to find. It’s also useful for people that can’t (or won’t) use Discord.
Forum basics
If you’ve never used a forum before, then the layout here may be somewhat alien to you. There are a few concepts you need to understand:
- Posts: Single messages posted by users in topics, containing text, images or other media.
- Topics: Sometimes called threads, topics represent a set of sequential posts that all relate to the same subject.
- Categories: Broad categories are used to organize topics, and they’re represented by the different sections you see on the forum’s home page (or the Categories view if you’ve changed your settings).
- Tags: These are used to get more specific on what a topic is about, and are extremely useful for searching for topics — make sure you tag your posts appropriately! You can always check the list of tags if you’re unsure of what’s available to use.
Once you’ve created an account, you’re free to create new topics in any of the visible categories, aside from the Announcements category. You will also be able to reply to any existing topic with a post of your own.
Please remember to be civil, and don’t create duplicate threads!
What are the rules?
This forum uses the same rules the rest of our community spaces do. We recommend reading the following pages for more information:
Additionally, the following extra documents were provided by Discourse — we’ve updated them so they’re more appropriate for us.
In general, please treat others how you’d wish to be treated, and back off if you’re making someone else uncomfortable.
Can I show my pronouns?
If you’d like to display your pronouns, you can do so in your settings. Select Preferences from your avatar menu at the top right, select Profile and fill out the Pronouns box. Remember to hit save!
We’ll be strictly moderating this field — do not abuse it.
Where can I learn more?
For more information, we suggest you take a look at the About section of this forum. You can do so by clicking here, or by selecting About in the top menu.
We’re very excited to be able to bring you this forum, and we couldn’t have done it without the help of the @Ambre system, who is responsible for hosting the forum and getting everything on it working. It’s been a gargantuan effort, and we can’t thank them enough for their help!
We hope you enjoy your time on the forum — feel free to reply to this topic if you have any questions, or you can send a message to the @moderators directly.
